The Story Behind TAI GUO PIN

"Every brand has a beginning.

TAI GUO PIN began with friendship, curiosity, and three Thai fruits."

Where It All Began

Every brand has a beginning...

Some are born in factories. Others begin in boardrooms.

The story of TAI GUO PIN began somewhere much less expected, through the friendship of two close university friends at an international university on Bangna–Trad Road, Thailand.

One of them was Jenny (Jennifer Mabangkru), a Thai student with Thai, Korean, Chinese, and Taiwanese heritage who had fallen in love with the Chinese language and culture. The other was Carl, an international student from Wuhan, China, who had travelled to Thailand to study Business Administration.

Their rooms were on opposite sides of the student residences. Jenny lived in the women’s hall, while Carl stayed in the men’s. They came from different countries and very different backgrounds, yet they shared something surprisingly similar. Both were only children who had left home for the first time to begin university life in a foreign environment.

Almost every evening after lectures, Jenny would arrive at the Study Room carrying a stack of books, hoping Carl could help untangle another confusing Chinese lesson. In return, Carl discovered Thailand through the eyes of someone who genuinely loved her homeland.

Jenny introduced him to a side of Thailand that never appears in guidebooks, bustling street food stalls, lively local markets, peaceful temples, small neighbourhoods, and even meditation retreats tucked quietly away from the crowds.

Carl, in turn, shared the language, traditions, culture, and everyday perspectives of China. Many of the things he taught Jenny could never have been learned from a textbook alone.

Looking back, they probably learned as much from each other as they did from their university courses.

Somewhere between homework, shared meals, endless conversations, and plenty of laughter, a friendship grew into an idea.

That idea would one day become TAI GUO PIN...

“Every brand starts somewhere...
...TAI GUO PIN started with a friendship.”

Tiny Kitchen Beneath
the Basketball Court

One day, they found themselves asking a surprisingly simple question.

“Why is it that some of Thailand’s most delicious fruits can’t be enjoyed for longer?”

At the time, ripe mangoes, fresh coconuts, and Monthong durian were their favourites. The nearest supermarket was almost an hour away from campus, so buying fresh fruit whenever they wanted simply wasn’t practical.

Beneath the student residence was a small communal kitchen tucked underneath the basketball court. Hardly anyone used it.

That ordinary little kitchen would become the very first home of TAI GUO PIN’s experiments.

Armed with curiosity rather than expertise, Jenny and Carl began testing different ways to preserve the flavours they loved. Mangoes were gently dried, coconuts were roasted and baked, and Monthong durian was carefully fried, all with one goal in mind: to keep the authentic taste of Thai fruit while allowing people to enjoy it for much longer.

Neither of them was a chef. Neither claimed to be good at cooking.

Quite a few batches of coconut ended up burnt. Some mangoes became so dry that all their natural sweetness disappeared. A few rounds of durian came out much darker than planned.

Fortunately, every mistake was followed by laughter.

Each evening after class became another opportunity to learn, experiment, adjust, and try again.

As word spread around the student residence, friends from different parts of Thailand began dropping by. Many had grown up watching their parents and grandparents preserve fruit and local ingredients at home. Before long, they were sharing family tips, traditional techniques, and plenty of encouragement.

Little by little, the tiny kitchen beneath the basketball court became much more than a place to cook. It became a place where friendship, curiosity, and shared knowledge came together.

The first batches of soft-dried mango, crispy coconut chips, and crispy fried Monthong durian were born in that little kitchen beneath the basketball court.

Looking back, it’s hard to imagine that one small kitchen would one day grow into TAI GUO PIN.

“Our quality isn’t an accident...

It’s the result of learning from every mistake and never giving up.”

When Thai Fruit Began to Travel

The very first batches were never meant to be sold....They were shared....Shared with the friends who had helped experiment, taste, encourage, and offer honest feedback throughout those months of trial and error.

Before long, classmates, neighbours in the student residence, and students from all over the world had discovered our fruit. Every opinion, every suggestion, and every smile became part of making each recipe a little better than the last.

Then came the university holidays....Something completely unexpected happened.

Many international students asked if we could make more, so they could take the fruit home for their families. Thai students began asking the same, hoping to bring a taste of campus back to their loved ones.

And so, the fruit that had been created in a tiny communal kitchen beneath the basketball court quietly began travelling beyond Thailand, tucked inside the suitcases of students heading home to every corner of the world.

That was the moment we realised something we had never expected...The taste of Thai fruit has a remarkable way of bringing people together. No matter where they come from, or what language they speak, a delicious bite and a genuine smile need no translation.

From Friendship to TAI GUO PIN

After graduation, their paths naturally led in different directions....

Carl spent some time working in Thailand before returning to China. Today, he is a senior executive at a medical technology company, travelling the world and building the international career he had always dreamed of.

Jenny chose to stay in Thailand. After gaining valuable experience in modern trade purchasing and brand management with several leading companies, her thoughts often returned to one unforgettable place, a tiny communal kitchen beneath a university basketball court.

With encouragement from Carl and many of the friends who had shared those early experiments, she decided to bring the idea to life.

That was the beginning of TAI GUO PIN.

Jenny has always believed that Thai fruit deserves far more than being seen simply as a souvenir.

She believed that if the products were genuinely good, people would naturally recommend them to others.

Over the years, TAI GUO PIN has grown not because of large advertising budgets, but because of the trust, recommendations, and continued support of our customers.

“Our first billboards and in-store TAI GUO PIN music didn’t appear until our tenth year.

From the very beginning, we’ve chosen to invest in better products rather than compete on price.”

What We Believe

Thai fruit is far more than an agricultural product. It represents the best of nature, generations of local wisdom, and the dedication of countless Thai farmers.

Good food processing isn’t about changing the fruit. It’s about preserving everything that makes it special, while adding value so it can travel further and be enjoyed by more people around the world.

Quality is more than a manufacturing standard. It’s a way of honouring everyone behind every pack, the farmers who grow the fruit, the people who produce it, our business partners, and every customer who places their trust in TAI GUO PIN.

Today, TAI GUO PIN continues to grow alongside the people who have been part of its story from the very beginning. Friends from university, seniors, juniors, colleagues, and long-time supporters remain an important part of who we are. Many of our investors are also friends from school and university who have believed in Jenny and her vision for many years.

People often describe this as a company....We sometimes think it feels more like a school.

Every day brings another opportunity to learn, experiment, improve, and grow. No matter how far we’ve come, we still believe there’s always something new to discover.

“This may be a company on paper.

But for all of us, it’s a place to keep learning for life, and to enjoy every step with plenty of laughter.”

The Purpose Has Never Changed

Back then, no one could have imagined that a tiny communal kitchen beneath a university basketball court would one day become the birthplace of a brand now found in more than 700 retail locations across Thailand, with Thai fruit making its way to customers in countries around the world.

Yet no matter how much TAI GUO PIN has grown, the reason we started has never changed.

The finest Thai fruit deserves to be more than something people discover while travelling in Thailand. It deserves to become a product people choose with confidence, remember for its quality, and recognise as one of the authentic tastes of Thailand.

Every time someone opens a pack of TAI GUO PIN, whether in Bangkok, Tokyo, Hong Kong, Beijing, Sydney, London, Paris, Zurich, New York, or anywhere else in the world, we hope they receive more than the taste of Thai fruit.

We hope they experience the care, dedication, and craftsmanship of everyone behind it, from the farmers who grow the fruit and the people who make it, to the friends, partners, and shared spirit that helped bring this story to life.

Because the true destination has never been the growth of our brand alone...It’s about helping Thai fruit, the value created by Thai farmers, and the pride of Thailand reach as far as they possibly can.

“Our ambition goes beyond building a Thai brand for the world.

We aspire to be a source of pride for Thai farmers, turning success into opportunity, helping people realise their potential, and passing lasting value from one generation to the next, while contributing to a stronger Thailand and a more sustainable world..

The Legend OF "TAI GUO PIN"

TAI GUO PIN Brand Story17_edited.jpg
factory4.jpg

From a secret recipe born in a tiny basement kitchen beneath the basketball court of a student residence at an international university on Bangna–Trad Road in Thailand, a story quietly began. It was never intended to become a business, nor was it the result of a carefully written business plan. It began with curiosity, friendship, and two university classmates, one Thai and one Chinese, who found themselves asking one simple question: How could they preserve the extraordinary flavours of Thailand’s most beloved fruits without losing what made them so special?

The two friends lived in residence halls directly opposite one another, Jenny in the women’s hall and Carl in the men’s. Neither of them could have imagined that the short path they walked countless times during their university years would one day become the beginning of a journey far greater than either of them had ever expected.

One of them was Jenny (Jennifer Mabangkru), a student of Thai, Korean, Chinese, and Taiwanese heritage who had left her hometown of Phra Pradaeng in Samut Prakan Province to study Business Chinese in the Faculty of Liberal Arts. The other was Carl, a young man from Wuhan, Hubei Province, People’s Republic of China, who had travelled to Thailand to pursue a degree in Business Administration. They came from different countries, spoke different native languages, and had grown up in very different cultures. Yet university life brought them together in ways neither of them could have imagined.

Although Jenny had been encouraged, and sometimes firmly pushed, to study Chinese from the age of four, she had grown up in a Thai-speaking family and had very few opportunities to use the language in everyday life. By the time she entered university, speaking Mandarin still felt like a challenge. Chinese homework often left her searching for answers, so almost every evening she would bring her books to the Study Room and ask Carl, a native Mandarin speaker, to patiently explain the lessons she struggled to understand.

In return, Jenny introduced Carl to the Thailand she had grown up with rather than the Thailand found in travel brochures. She took him to enjoy authentic local food, experience everyday Thai life, visit Buddhist temples and meditation retreats, and even discover the country’s lively nightlife. It was her way of thanking a friend who had patiently shared his knowledge. Carl, whose English was excellent, returned the favour by introducing Jenny to Chinese language, history, traditions, and ways of thinking, often drawing comparisons with American and Western European cultures to make unfamiliar ideas easier to understand. Over time, their conversations stretched far beyond language lessons. They became close friends, perhaps because they were both only children, living away from home for the first time and navigating the same exciting chapter of life together.

As their friendship grew, so did an idea. Thailand was home to some of the finest fruits either of them had ever tasted, especially mangoes, coconuts, and durians. The only problem was that fresh fruit never stayed fresh for very long. The nearest supermarket and local market were about a forty-five-minute journey from the student residence, making regular shopping trips inconvenient for busy university students. Fortunately, the residence had a shared kitchen in the basement, open to students from both the men’s and women’s halls. Hardly anyone ever used it. To Jenny and Carl, it looked like the perfect place to begin.

Once they were happy with the results, they did what friends naturally do. They shared them. The very first batches were never made for sale. Instead, they were handed out to friends in the residence halls and classmates across the university with one simple question: “What do you think?” The response was overwhelming. Before long, word spread across the international campus. Thai students, Chinese students, and friends from many different countries all fell in love with the unique flavours.

Then, as each semester came to an end and students packed their suitcases to return home around the world, something unexpected began to happen. More and more friends asked Jenny and Carl to prepare extra packs for them to take home as gifts for their families. What had started as a way for two university students to enjoy Thai fruit a little longer was now travelling across continents inside suitcases, carrying a small taste of Thailand to homes they had never seen. To make those journeys possible, Jenny and Carl also began developing packaging that could better protect the products during international travel. Long before they ever imagined building a company, they were already thinking about how to bring the authentic taste of Thailand safely to people around the world.

After graduation, Carl remained in Thailand for a while before deciding to return to China to pursue an international career and fulfil his dream of travelling the world. Today, he is a senior executive at a medical technology company whose work regularly takes him across the globe, exactly the life he had hoped for as a university student. Jenny chose a different path. Her love for Thailand, its culture, and its extraordinary agricultural produce inspired her to stay and gradually turn their university experiment into a small business. There was no major marketing campaign and very little advertising. The business simply grew because customers genuinely loved the products and kept coming back. One customer became ten. Ten became hundreds. Production expanded, distribution reached further, and year after year TAI GUO PIN grew beyond anything its founders had ever imagined. What had begun in a quiet basement kitchen beneath a basketball court slowly evolved into a brand found in hundreds of retail locations, sharing the authentic taste of Thailand with people both at home and around the world.

Even today, TAI GUO PIN still feels much more like a school than a company. Jenny has invited friends from her secondary school years, university classmates, and seniors and juniors she has met throughout her life to build the business together, carrying forward the same spirit of friendship that inspired it from the very beginning. Every day is filled with learning, experimenting, improving, solving problems, sharing ideas, laughter, and plenty of hard work. As the company has grown, so has its sense of responsibility. Part of its profits is used to support social initiatives, not only through financial contributions but also through the time and effort of the people behind the brand. Above all, TAI GUO PIN hopes to become a source of pride for Thai farmers, a celebration of Thai products embraced by people from every culture, and a brand that helps share the very best of Thailand with the world.
